Question by TryToHaveFun: HELP! What kind of job can a person with my education and experience get?
I have a degree in Computer Science and of course many years experience doing software development and related work for companies. I have also been running a computer consulting and systems related business for many years. So I have “business” and “management” experience outside of all my tech skills. The problem is working for a company doing the work I used to do is REALLY hard to find and keep. Most is being outsourced to India, etc. Thanks so much for any ideas on where I could start out on a new career path other than a low paying retail job. Can I somehow break into management? All the jobs I run across outside of field keep turning out to be MLM scams and the like. There must be SOME employer or company out there that could use my skills other than another short term tech job.
I’m asking about a job for me OUTSIDE of technical work. A bank WOULD BE technical work for me and I’ve already worked for them. Some of the WORST short term tech jobs are at banks. NEXT!
Do you need an MBA to be a McD’s regional manager or are you just talking out of your !@#?
I already have my own company. Does anyone actually READ these questions?
BMW – thanks for the best answer so far. I would like to do just that. I have worked with and for PM’s and people with those certs but I have NO idea where to start on my own to get one. I put another Q out on that. Maybe you could help me out. I tried email’ing you but you have it disabled.
Answer by just curious
Banks always need techy type people to maintain all the computer netwoking and such… they also help create some of the software that banks use for opening new accounts/paperwork and teller reconciliations and they have dif levels of techs so you can move up as well…
and most have GREAT benefits and perks…
sorry – I tried…good luck with that attitude!
